Dear friends and supporters of Nottingham Carnival
It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to cancel the Nottingham Carnival originally planned for the 23rd August 2020. Since my last post here on facebook and elsewhere, we have consulted with our community, troupe leaders and other stakeholders. We considered all the possible options to take our Nottingham Carnival to the streets, implementing all the various safety measures appropriate for our times. Nevertheless, we concluded that the environment is still not safe enough for the size of the gatherings we would expect and in the circumstances we believe we have taken the right decision.
However, it is important to us that we keep the spirit of carnival alive which is such an important part of our Summer activities in Nottingham. So, please look out for further information about our 𝐎𝐧𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 which is taking place on the 23rd August, the day we would have had our carnival. We will also be exploring ways in which we can still bring you some live carnival entertainment before the end of the year, so please look out for those details as well.
