Sound as a Pound is a financial inclusion programme, funded by the Big Lottery and led by Nottingham Community Housing Association.
Set up in 2013, Sound as a Pound aims to help social housing tenants in Nottingham manage their money and get to grips with financial issues. It offers one-to-one sessions as well as training courses to help people take control of their finances and learn money management skills such as:
- Paying for utilities and clearing utility bill debt
- Setting up bank accounts
- Accessing training
- Applying for grants
- Finding furniture
- Maximising income and applying for benefits, including benefits appeals
So far, SAAP has helped over 2,000 tenants in Nottingham increase their financial confidence.
