Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire

Date published: 28th September 2017

Whether it’s staying in touch with family and friends, catching up on a missed TV programme or doing your supermarket shopping online, the internet has fast become a part of everyday life, and a reliable broadband connection is vital.

Since the start of 2015, Nottinghamshire County Council has been working to connect residents to a ‘superfast’ service. Up and down the county green cabinets have been appearing on streets with fibre optic cables running underground and up along telegraph lines.

So, the technology is there, but am I connected?

Unfortunately you WON’T be connected automatically. In order to take advantage of the fibre broadband, you need to contact your internet service provider and ask to switch to a fibre package. Alternatively you can search for the best deal on a price comparison website. We often find residents save money by switching, as well as getting a better service!

Don’t get left behind. The technology is there – so make use of it now!

How to switch in 3 simple steps:

Step 1: Check to see if you are eligible by entering your postcode or landline telephone number here:

So far 96% of the county is covered. If you can’t yet access superfast, send the Better Broadband for Nottinghamshire team an email to check when we are coming to you – enquiries.broadband@nottscc.gov.uk

Step 2: Find the best deal. We recommend searching on price comparison websites to find the best value. Make sure you check if there is an upfront cost as well as the monthly fee.

Step 3: Order your service and enjoy! Your new service provider will let you know if an engineer needs to visit your property or if you will get a box in the post to plug in yourself. They will let you know how long until you are up and running and you should get in touch with them if you are experiencing any problems.
