Carrying out an exchange is one of the ways you can find a home. Demand for social housing is very high and a mutual exchange is a good way to find a move instead of waiting for what could be a long time for a move to an empty home.
Any tenant of Tuntum or another social landlord can carry out a mutual exchange. Permission from both landlords is needed before a move can take place. All parties in the exchange have to be secure tenants unless they are housing association tenants who may either be secure tenants or assured tenants. Introductory tenants cannot exchange.
Assured short-hold tenants have different rights from secure or introductory tenants. You need to know what type of tenancy you have before you apply for an exchange.
Take a look on the Homeswapper website where you can search for properties to exchange with. As a Tuntum tenant you can register for FREE on the Homeswapper website.
Your details will stay on the system for three months from the date you register, after that date you will have to register again.
You and your exchange partner(s) need to get written permission from both your landlord(s) which you can request by telephoning the Customer Service Team on 0115 9166 066. You will be sent a form to fill in which all parties need to fill with details of the person they want to exchange with.
Please telephone Tuntum on 0115 9166 066.
