100 Derby Road is a Foyer. A Foyer is different from a hostel in that the primary aim of a Foyer is to foster progress in training, education and employment rather that focusingmainly on service users' short term accomadtion needs.
100 Derby Road caters for 9 young people at a time and has modern facilities which include furnished bedrooms, 24 hour staff cover and CCTV, IT suite, free internet access, self catering facilities. The Foyer also offers training facilities which include an in house skills programme called 'Learning Power'. Our approach is holistic. A young person cannot necessarily thrive at college, for example, if they have problems with welfare benefits or mental health, so we carry out a comprehensive needs assessment at the outset and put together a support plan. This is unique to the young person and is reviewed regularly to ensure that it is still appropriate and that progress is being made.
