Tuntum sets out to achieve high standards of governance, accountability and probity and as such, we maintain rigorous internal control systems.
The effectiveness of these is reviewed regularly by the Board who aim to respond promptly and sensitively to the widely varying environment in which Tuntum provides homes and housing services.
Tuntum’s Board is comprised of people who are committed to the communities Tuntum operates in. Members have a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience to draw on, and they attend training to broaden their knowledge and ensure they stay up to date.
The Board comprises 12 people (9 independent and 3 tenant members) and is responsible for:
setting the overall strategy for Tuntum establishing financial plans and monitoring the Tuntum's financial health managing and monitoring risk taking an overview of performance.
The Board delegates some of its responsibilities to the Tenant's Services Scrutiny Committee and the Audit Committee which are both made up from members of the Board. The former looks at Tuntum's operational issues, for example how quickly Tuntum is maintaining and repairing its homes. The latter looks at Tuntum's financial issues, for example how much money Tuntum is spending repairing its homes. Both Committees report to the Board to enable them to make strategic decisions. For example, what the planned and responsive repairs budgets should be.
